Sophia is a Sonoma County native who has spent most of her life surrounded by horses. By age 11, she owned her first horse, a spirited Quarter horse named Smarty. Together, they competed in local cattle sorting shows and developed a beautiful bond of trust that has shaped her appreciation of horses forever. Today, she is the single mother of a little boy who is following closely in her footsteps and the proud owner of Lonepine Healing Hooves.
After Smarty's passing and birth of her son, Sophia took a break from the horse mom life to raise her sweet little boy. But that break didn't last long. Sophia decided to give to her son the same gift that she had been given as a young child, so she rescued a beautiful Palomino pony named Goldie.
Today Goldie is one of the horse partners in the Lonepine Healing Hooves program. A program that Sophia started as a way to give back to other's who have experienced trauma. Working with horses has been such a beneficial part of her healing journey, so her dream with Lonepine Healing Hooves, is to share that magic horses have for those facing hardship in their lives.
Sophia is trained and certified in Equine - Assisted Coaching with HorseDream USA. She is also a Certified Trauma Specialist with the IAOTRC. She blends both practices together to assist you and the horse to get the most out of your sessions. From these studies, Sophia has developed this core principle of her program: Looking forward in our life, instead of the past, to lead the life we want for ourselves and fiercely believing that if our brain has the power to keep us safe in traumatic situations, then our brain also has the power to heal itself using the horse as a teacher.
Throughout history, horses have always been our partners. From running into battle with their rider to carrying people across our country, they have been their every step of the way. Without fail, they show up for us. It is a symbolic relationship where the horse carried us through hardship and discovery. The modern day horse still shares this relationship with us, but we have harnessed the power of the horse and learned that they can guide us into making discoveries in ourselves, thus assisting in the steps of your healing journey.
This is done when we understand the role between our brain and nervous system of our body, and then we added a horse. When we are partnered with a horse, they will naturally respond to our energetic patterns of fear, conflict, frustration, stress, anxiety or our inability to connect to ourselves or others. After the horse has given their teachings, it can help each person move forward in life in a positive way and sustain a healthy way of living and having connections with others.
This is possible through a somatic relationship between horse and human. This a connection unique to each person and horse that are partnered together, and the relational dynamic is unique to each session.
